What I Wore On My Bat Mitzvah and Other Sartorial Stories: A Blog for Alembika

One of my favorite memories of my mother was going clothes shopping. Dressing was one of her forms of creative expression. Our styles might have deferred (hello animal prints!) But who cared? It was the hunt that mattered!

I am happy to share this essay I wrote for the clothing company. Alembika, whose clothes both my mother and I loved (we agreed on some things). In my Women's Writing Circles, I notice clothing memories often come up. At the end of this blog, I invite you to think or write about some of your clothing memories. They can be surprisingly potent, and gateways into some deep memories.
