Matthew’s Letter

March 29th, 2007 — 6:16pm

My son Matthew is a remarkable boy. He is as wise as he is kind and he has my heart.

I told him and his brother Jack (his twin) about meeting Sharon (see last post), and Matthew said “Mom, can I write her a letter?” I told him of course, and this is what he wrote:

“Dear Sharon: I hope you have a long, peaceful life and enough food and water. From, Matthew”

He wrote it on a yellow piece of paper, and under the note drew a house with one person handing a gift to another. Some sand and sea were in front of the house.
He and his brother also gave me two dollars each, which I put into an envelope with the note.

I will carry the envelope in my purse and the next time I see Sharon, will give it to her.
